The cars packed into transporters and leaving Paul Ricard after the end of Round 3 of the Blancpain Endurance Series this weekend are not heading home to their garages. Rather, they are heading north to the Ardennes for the Official Test Day ahead of the Spa 24h race next month.
The usual suspects; Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes, Nissan and Porsche; will be in attendance for your viewing pleasure. Entry is free to the public and the perfect excuse for a day out gazing at beautiful machinery hitting the track for sessions lasting from 9am – 6pm.
The Belgian Audi Club come mob-handed as usual bringing no less than four R8’s. AF Corse will again bring three 458’s and Motorbase, whom provide the platform for the Oman Racing Team, are down to bring another Vantage over from British GT to accompany British GT stalwarts PGF-Kinfaun AMR. Team Parker, Sainteloc, and ISR bring the Audi count up to seven although this last presents an oddity.
Could this ‘ISR from GBR’ be the Czech ISR Racing team of Igor Salaquarda mis-described as a British entry? We think so, ISR Racing, the Czech ISR Racing that is, are on record as wanting to run sportscars and plan for Spa 24h to mark the team’s Grand Touring debut with entries in the final two rounds to follow.
An Audi R8 LMS Ultra will be campaigned in the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. 2014 will be small-scale but the team is looking forward to a full 2015 season in the Blancpain Endurance Series.
Round 4 sees the Blancpain Endurance Series converge travel to Belgium for their ultimate challenge, the 24h of Spa-Francorchamps. After the official test day on 2nd July, the race procedings kick-off with the traditional driver parade through Spa town. The meeting get underway with Free Practice, Qualifying, and Night Qualifying on Thursday 24th July. The ‘Super Pole’ Qualifying, that sets the grid order, takes place on Friday evening and the race itself gets underway at 14:30GMT Saturday 26th July 2014.
