If ‘nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition’ then even fewer expect WRT to get mugged in qualifying by an Audi customer team.
Franck Perera’s excellent qualifying run last time out in Italy was seemingly forgotten after his hot lap got binned by the stewards for infringing the much abused Misano track limits. Forgotten? Maybe. Or simply dismissed as a fluke perhaps? Either way at Brands Hatch in the second Blancpain Sprint Cup round, the Frenchman Errant repeated the feat.
Having crept under the radar in Q2, mostly evading the cameras and the eagle-eyes of Messrs. Nicholls and Watson, Perera ended the session in a very respectable P4 before unleashing a monster lap halfway through Q3.
‘Pole for Marlon Stockinger and Franck Perera in the #74 I.S.R. Racing Team Audi R8’. How often will we hear that said over the season?
