Power steering failure (caused by accident damage) ended Barwell Motorsports Aston Martin GT3 Vantage team’s race after just a couple of laps this afternoon at Snetterton. Driver Richard Abra suffered power steering failure.
A few moments ago he told Racing.GT: “During the last couple of laps I started to feel the power steering not working very well and then on the last lap it failed completely. Got fluid coming down the side of the car and also in the cockpit. Thought the safest thing was to pit.”
“For the first few laps the car was good. Picked up a couple of places and then I was stuck behind the Audi … was trying to find a way past. But when the power steering started to affect me there was not much I could have done, so that’s racing I guess.”
It brings to an end a torrid weekend for the Aston team at Snetterton. Race one ended prematurely after Mark Poole’s car crashed following an incident early on.
