Another Monday race day beckons, but this time May Day with Sunday qualifying and just one 2 hour race. Rockingham is a physical track when in the racing seat for near an hour; turn 1 is very fast leading into one of the slowest corners. With the added 200kg of ballast this year I’m sure the practice sessions will be very important for us with so many cars on track it’s going to be a challenge for sure.
I like Rockingham more in the RWD Ginetta than I did when racing in the VW Golf so I’m looking forward to getting back out and hopefully standing on the top step again. I’m sure it is going to be a tough weekend as it is quite a narrow track, and with 30 cars all trying to set quick laps, it will be pretty congested.
Since Oulton I have been featured in the Guardian and also on BBC Radio 2 talking about my current racing, my ambition and women involved in Motorsport which has come about after Sir Stirling Moss’ comments. They were both great opportunities and hopefully it will increase my profile.
Follow my progress on Twitter (@ZoeWenham) throughout the 2 days and if you’re coming along on Monday don’t forget to come and collect an autograph card on the Pit Walk.
