Welcome to a new site dedicated to the world of sports car racing.
Motorsport has a special place in many people’s lives. Whether it is those who live the dream and do it for real, or others who love the spectacle of watching some of the world’s most prestigious marques battling it out on track, Racing.GT will deliver something a little different.
My interest in this side of motor sport is relatively new. A few years ago I visited Silverstone for a six hour endurance race, quietly watching the cars pass by on the formation lap. As they neared what was then the old start-finish line, a voice over the tannoy became increasingly excited until it reached fever-pitch. It was a Murray Walker moment when such infectious enthusiasm helped bring another fan into the fold. What has John Hindhaugh started!
We are a small team. Racing.GT comprises myself, motorsport photographer and joint-owner Gary Parravani and Chris Hall, a writer whose skill and knowledge of the British GT scene will be invaluable in our journey ahead. Much of Racing.GT‘s content will be focused on this expanding and exciting series. But we will also focus on other areas just as interesting – complemented by Gary’s superb library of pictures.
We kick off with three pieces on the launch of Aston Martin Racing’s 2013 season. An extensively developed GTE car and an exciting driver line-up means 2013 could be the year for the iconic British brand as it celebrates its centenary. AMR last won at Le Mans in 2008, but as you’ll read, there is every chance of it happening again at the Circuit de la Sarthe.
Thank you for your time, we hope you enjoy our pieces and we look forward to further enhancing the breadth of coverage sports car racing currently enjoys.
