Peter Dumbreck – Introduction

Peter Dumbreck – Introduction

We seem to be in this yearly lull of January/February where most things in Motor Racing are being finalised, cars are being built and drivers are hanging around waiting to be let loose. March is just around the corner and for me that’s when I give up my winter home husband job and turn back into a racing driver.

My first full on competitive test will be in the JRM Nismo GTR GT3 at Paul Ricard when all the teams competing in the Blancpain Endurance Series will size each other up for the first time in 2013 spec cars.

From there I move on for a 2 day test at the most challenging race track in the world, Nurburgring Nordschleife. Even though I’ve done hundreds, maybe thousands of laps of The Ring. I still feel like I have a lot more to learn and the first couple of laps of the year in the Falken Porsche GT3R are always taken with my eyes very wide open! For anyone who hasn’t been there yet – you have to see and drive it to believe it!

My next stop in Mid March is to the Sebring where I will have my first run in the Aston Martin Vantage GTE in the test that happens annually straight after the 12 hour race. This is the car that I will race in Le Mans 24 in June so it’s important that I get some mileage and try to get up to speed with my super quick team mates, Turner and Mucke.

My resting will be done on the flight back to Europe because I’ll be heading straight back to Germany for round one of the VLN championship on the Nordschleife… together with 180 other cars…

It’s looking like a busy year!
